The site of Mammoth City isnt much today but at one time there were over 10,000 people living here according to the books.
Nowadays all thats left are some foundations of both homes and the mill, a mine or two and some graves.
THIS IS THE GRAVE OF JENNY TOWNSEND , A MINERS WIFE KILLED IN A TRAGIC "ACCIDENT" IN THE WINTER OF 1882. STORY GOES THAT THE MINER WAS CLEANING HIS GUN INSIDE THEIR HOME WHEN IT ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGED, KILLING HIS WIFE. SINCE IT WAS THE HEART OF WINTER HE HAD TO WAIT UNTIL SPRING THAW TO BURY HER. AND WHEN HE DID HE MADE A WHITE PICKET FENCE AROUND HER GRAVE BECAUSE HIS WIFE HAD TOLD HIM THAT WHEN WINTER WAS OVER ALL SHE WANTED WAS A HOUSE WITH A WHITE PICKET FENCE.
BELOW IS THE FLYWHEEL, ALL THATS LEFT OF THE MAMMOTH CITY MILL.
